E2 Solar Donates Solar System to Partners In Care Hospice House

BEND, OR (Nov. 5, 2012) Small but significant acts of kindness can mean a lot to people who are working through the end-of-life process, whether those acts are directed toward a patient, a family member or a friend. In the view of Kelli Hewitt, President and co-founding partner of E2 Solar in Bend, Oregon, Partners in Care excels in offering those small but very significant acts of kindness on a daily basis and to everyone involved.

As a result, when she and her husband and business partner, Mike, needed help with Kelli’s 103-year-old great aunt in her end-of-life process they knew who to call.  How best to keep Millie comfortable and well-cared for 24/7 during her final days was of utmost importance to Kelli and Mike. “Because of all of the positive feedback that we received throughout the community, we knew when the time came that Hospice House would be the very best option for us in helping aunt Millie through this critical time in her life,” says Kelli. “They were an exceptional help to us in so many ways when we needed them most.”

In gratitude for their service and compassion, Kelli and Mike offered Partners In Care the gift of a new 2kW solar system. The value of the system including labor and licensing to install will be approximately $13,000. The Hewitts feel that this is a fitting show of appreciation. “We believe that by helping one of our critical nonprofit organizations to lower their cost of operation, we are helping the community at large and that is in keeping with our mission to support our community,” says Mike Hewitt.

The system was installed on the Hospice House roof on Nov. 27, in conjunction with “Giving Tuesday.” Giving Tuesday is a nationwide campaign the goal of which is to transform the way people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. “This is a wonderful and timely gift from the heart and we are truly grateful for Kelli and Mike’s generosity,” says Marlene Carlson, Senior Development Officer for Partners In Care.

difference 1 Doors open to the rising sun; communities thrive in its service toward progress

Solar is more than just our business — it’s our passion. We believe in the significance of our work, the importance of our customers, and the health of our community. We know that we couldn’t accomplish our philosophical and company goals without the dedicated people who, each day, help us progress toward a cleaner, more sustainable environment. For that we thank you!

At E2 Solar we work to minimize our environmental impact when and wherever possible. We do this by creating the most efficient work environment possible from ICF block construction of our office building right on up to a 5,100-watt photovoltaic array saving us 6,800 kWh of energy each year while offsetting more than 50 percent of our annual consumption. We drive a hybrid vehicle for our commute, for our sales calls, and for our site visits; our fleet vehicles are powered by biodiesel when available. We have also been awarded a certificate of environmental stewardship from Pacific Power for our Blue Sky participation and in 2011 were awarded “Best Green Business” by Central Oregon Magazine.

difference 2 In Community:

Our intent is not only to make an impact through our business practices but also by supporting the diverse community efforts on behalf of people, environment and animals. We support local organizations and events because we believe wholeheartedly that sustainable communities are strong communities. That translates to better places to live, to raise families, and to work and play. Some of our efforts involve the support and sponsorship of our local humane societies, of the Oregon National Desert Association (ONDA), Deschutes Land Trust, NeighborImpact as well as sponsorships and participation in, and resource support of, Tour des Chutes Cancer Benefit Bike ride, with the majority of proceeds benefiting St. Charles cancer survivorship programs.
